Hello, and welcome to Rootlet. I'm Dan, and I started Rootlet to make it easier for people in the UK to learn practical skills online from people who actually use them. This first post explains what Rootlet is, why I built it, how it works for learners and instructors, and what you can expect from this blog.
I started Rootlet because I believe the most useful skills are best learned from people who use them every day. There's a huge amount of free information online, but it's often scattered, out of date or missing the basics, and it can be hard to know where to start or who to trust. I wanted one place where you can learn a practical skill properly, step by step, from someone who really knows it.
I care about getting the foundations right: clear courses, fair prices, honest policies and a site that's simple to use.
Our slogan is "Grow your skills from the roots up", and it's a promise about how courses here should feel. Good learning starts with the basics, explained clearly, and then builds step by step towards something you can actually use. We want every course on Rootlet to take you from a solid foundation to real, practical confidence, without skipping the parts that make everything else make sense.
When you're ready, you can browse the courses on Rootlet.
Rootlet is a marketplace, which means the courses are made by instructors who know their subject. If you have a skill people want to learn, you can apply to teach, build your course, and earn from every sale. Your revenue share and payout details are shown in your instructor dashboard.
We're especially keen to hear from people who do the thing they teach, day in, day out. That first-hand experience is what makes a course worth paying for. If that sounds like you, you can apply to become a Rootlet instructor.
We'll keep the blog useful, honest and not too frequent. Posts will fall into five categories:
Every post will carry the name of the real person who wrote it.
Rootlet is brand new and we're still growing, so your feedback genuinely shapes what comes next. If you have a question, a course you'd like to see, or a skill you'd like to teach, email us at support@rootlet.co.uk. We read every message.
Thanks for being here at the start.
