Course description
Good writing sells products, fills workshops and gets people to read to the end. This course shows you, step by step, how to write clear, persuasive copy for websites, blogs, emails and social media, even if you've never written anything for work before. You'll learn by doing, with a writing task at the end of every lesson.
It's a full course, not a quick list of tips. There are 10 sections and 55 step-by-step written lessons, and every section has a practice pack of templates, checklists and rewriting exercises with suggested answers. Throughout the course you follow a new freelance writer through their first real job for a small plant shop, from the brief to the finished pages.
What you'll learn
- Knowing your reader: audiences, search intent, voice and tone, and working from a brief.
- Clear writing: plain English, short sentences, active voice and cutting the clutter.
- Headlines and calls to action: openings that keep people reading and endings that get them to act.
- Web pages: About pages, product descriptions, landing pages, FAQs, microcopy and accessible writing.
- Blog posts: finding topics, research, outlines, drafts and polishing.
- SEO basics: keywords, page titles and meta descriptions, following Google's people-first guidance.
- Email and social: newsletters, subject lines, social posts and honest persuasion.
- Editing: self-editing, proofreading, UK style, feedback and using AI tools responsibly.
Two final projects
You'll write a complete campaign for a workshop (landing page, newsletter and social posts) and take a blog post from brief to finished, search-ready article. Both come with annotated model answers so you can compare your work.
