Course description

Shapes, Patterns and Sequences turns 11+ non-verbal reasoning into nine detective missions. Children aged 9 to 11 learn the main question types step by step, with short lessons written just for them, games to practise each skill, a quick quiz at the end of each mission and a printable worksheet with answers for grown-ups.

What's inside

  • 28 short lessons (about 10 minutes each) covering shapes and the six things to check, odd one out, sequences, rotation, reflection and symmetry, shape analogies, codes, grid puzzles, and cubes and nets.
  • 11 games built for Rootlet Kids: matching, sorting and quick-fire shape challenges, including a mega mission that mixes every question type.
  • 9 five-question quizzes and 9 printable worksheets, each with an answer sheet for grown-ups.
  • Clear step-by-step methods for every question type, plus test day tips for staying calm and managing time.

GL and CEM style practice

The questions are written in the style of the GL Assessment and CEM 11+ non-verbal reasoning tests that many grammar and independent schools use. They are practice questions written by Rootlet, not real test papers. Each school chooses its own test, so check the format with the schools you are applying to.

Safe by design

Grown-ups hold the account and log in for their child. There's no chat, no comments, no adverts and no tracking in kids lessons or games, and we never ask for a child's name or details. Game stars are saved only on the device being used.

What will I learn?

  • Solve shape sequences, including ones where two things change at once
  • Spot rotations and reflections, and find lines of symmetry
  • Crack shape analogies, letter codes and grid puzzles, and find opposite faces on cube nets

Requirements

  • For children aged 9 to 11; a grown-up buys the course and logs in for their child
  • Knowing basic shape names helps, but every one is taught; no earlier 11+ practice is needed
