Course description

Python is one of the most popular programming languages in the world, and one of the friendliest to start with. This course takes you from installing Python for the first time to writing complete programs that save and load your own data, in a clear order where every lesson builds on the one before.

It's a full course, not a quick taster. There are 10 sections and 55 step-by-step written lessons, and every section comes with a practice pack of starter files and worked solutions, so you learn by writing code, not just reading about it. There are no videos to pause and rewind: every lesson is written out clearly, so you can work at your own pace with Python open beside it.

What you'll learn

  • Getting set up: installing Python on Windows or Mac, writing and running your first programs.
  • The building blocks: numbers, text, variables, input and f-strings.
  • Making decisions and repeating things: if, elif and else, while and for loops.
  • Organising data: lists, tuples, dictionaries and sets.
  • Functions: breaking a problem into small, reusable pieces.
  • Files and errors: reading and writing text and CSV files, and handling problems with try and except.
  • The wider Python world: modules, the standard library, pip and virtual environments.

Two real projects

The course finishes with two projects you build yourself: a personal expense tracker that saves to a CSV file, and a stock manager for a small shop with low-stock alerts. By the end you'll have used every skill from the course on something practical.

Who this course is for

  • Complete beginners who have never written a line of code.
  • People who want to automate boring tasks at work.
  • Anyone thinking about a move into tech, data or development who wants a solid first step.
  • Learners who tried coding before and got lost, and want a clearer path.

How the course works

Read each lesson with Python open next to it and type the examples yourself. Each lesson ends with a short "Try it" exercise, and each section has a practice pack to download with starter files and solutions. You keep lifetime access, so you can come back to any lesson whenever you need a refresher.
